As summer approaches, we’re preparing for the Tacoma Highland Games in June and the Highland Games in Enumclaw at the end of July. This year, Pat and Jim have the honor of officiating as chieftains of the Tacoma Highland Games!

Since the dancing season is almost over, our roster is being finalized as our practice sessions intensify, so we’re no longer accepting new members this year. However, anyone is still welcome at our practices on Monday nights to watch or fill in sets. After this season culminates with the Enumclaw Games, we’re taking the rest of the summer off. A new season for all interested dancers begins in September (exact date to be determined).

Please see the events calendar for the exact times and dates of our upcoming performances, and keep an eye on it for details about next season.

It is now March and we find ourselves beginning to think about our dances for the summer highland games season. We have been learning and practicing a variety of dance styles with an eye to balancing our program between fast jigs and reels and slower strathspeys. As we get towards May and June we will be finalizing our list of dances and establishing dancers’ positions in each dance.

We recently had a fun Sunday afternoon performing for a rehabilitation center in Auburn, WA. We presented six country dances and several Scottish songs and instruments. We even had a Highland dancer present two specialty dances for our audience. We greatly enjoyed performing for them and they enjoyed it as well.
